Due to its bio-mechanical support mechanisms and well ventilated seat and back, mesh office chair is one of the most comfortable office chairs. It’s no wonder they are an office favorite nowadays.

Scientists and health experts have been able to identify the major causes of neck and back pain for the majority of office workers: repetitive movements and poor posture while sitting. The long hours many workers put in, sometimes 10 plus per day, have compounded the severity of neck and back pain for many workers.

In order to correct this common problem, scientists started to develop ergonomic furniture, such as mesh chairs. Much of the early ergonomic furniture worked very well, but was very clunky and unattractive. If you look at current mesh office chairs, you can how far ergonomic furniture has advanced in alleviating pain while still being stylish.

So how exactly is a mesh office chair more human-friendly than the majority of other office chairs? It’s most distinguishing feature is the special construction and support mechanisms which allows it to mold to the shape of your body. This ability allows the chair to support your posture, and takes the strain out of prolonged sitting. Since the back and seat are ventilated, you don’t have to worry about raising your temperature and becoming uncomfortable as the day progresses. You’ll be able to be more productive with less discomfort.

Most mesh office chairs have a seat and back made entirely of a mesh air grid. Other models have a leather seat and a mesh air-grid back. There are also other models with an imitation leather seat and a mesh air-grid back.

Several important features to look for in a mesh office chair are: adjustable arms (possibly “T” arms), 2-to-1 synchronized tilt, a headrest or a head pillow, an adjustable lumbar cushion, adjustable arm height, as well as swivel or no-swivel chairs.

If you are looking for more than the classic black design, there are a wide range of styles to choose from for your mesh office chair. There are mesh chairs with platinum finish accents, chrome frames, and contemporary designs. The color range on the other hand isn’t very wide. You have your choices of black, brown, blue, red, gray, and green.

You can also select different fabrics for your mesh chair: layered leather seats, woven mesh backs, fabric seats, woven mesh seats, nylon fiber seats, sled base, and so on.

There is also another important feature you should take into consideration - the height of the chair’s back. There are various models of chairs with different backs. Some have high backs, while others have mid-back. Make sure to test them all out to find the one that would be most comfortable for you before you settle on buying on one.

A mesh office chair is among the most comfortable ergonomic office chairs. When picking your mesh office chair, make sure to compare the additional ergonomic features of the chairs you are choosing from.

If you’ve been experiencing chronic back and neck pain, your new mesh office chair should be able to alleviate much of it after a week or two. Be sure to go through the mesh chair checklist before settling on a chair to buy. The majority of mesh office chairs cost a little more than regular chairs, but you get the added benefits of great ergonomics and a comfortable chair to sit in for prolonged periods of time.
